If you’re one of those people on the spiritual path currently feeling depressed and/or disillusioned, take heart, because you’re probably suffering from the ”de-glamoured view, “ a term associated with alchemy which describes a phase that spiritual seekers must go through if they are to assimilate with the Unus Mundus, the One World - see my articles, “Finding Heaven . . . Once Upon a Time” and “The Unus Mundus (One World) and the Holy Grail, ” for information concerning this experience.
We are all susceptible to glamour, meaning, we are blinded to how things really are, or who some people really are, it’s as if our vision has been placed under a spell. Then, unexpectedly, it’s as if this spell suddenly breaks and we start to see people and things as they truly are, not how we have imagined, assumed or expected them to be.
The de-glamoured view is usually depressing and discouraging for us, especially if it also involves a new and unflattering perception of our self, because all at once, we’re not the person we always thought we were. In fact, in my experience, we discover we’re almost exactly the opposite of what we thought we were.
With reference to my article, Finding Heaven . . . Once Upon a Time, in which I talked about my personal experience of the One World, or Unus Mundus, which is the goal of individuation and alchemy. One of my friends told me that she couldn’t find any information on the web about this phenomenon.
This state of being, incidentally, in which you experience yourself as being unified with, or, at-one with, all of Creation, is also the “healed,” or “whole,” state, symbolized by the Holy Grail. Basically, the Quest for the Grail, is the quest for wholeness and healing, so that once again, we may be re-united with the land - literally. (Love the film, “Excalibur,” which tells this story.)
If you remember, in the grail legends, the knights are searching for the grail so that both King Arthur and the land will be “One” ie. healed, re-united. They had both fallen ill and were wasting away, if you recall.
Anyway, there’s an essay by the famous Jungian, Marie-Louise Von Franz, on ”The New Alchemy Website,” entitled “The Unus Mundus and Synchronicity,” (1979) which is taken from Von Franz’ “Alchemical Active Imagination.
The essay on the Unus Mundus is listed on the website’s Homepage under the section, ”Brief Extracts on Analytical Psychology.” Happy reading, and don’t worry, the extract isn’t very long.
This article was supposed to be about healing our body through healing our soul. The article was also to include how the body can help us in our journey to enlightenment, if we learn to understand how it is always trying to communicate with us. Then I realized I should really tell you why I believe so completely that the body can be healed through healing our soul.
So, here it is . . . I’ll post the “other” article on the body and its’ wisdom in a day or two.
Some years ago I was in constant physical discomfort and pain. Now I’m not. It’s been a miracle; I now have a new life.
To be truthful, I didn’t emerge from a pain-filled life by listening to my doctors. While they were sympathetic and supportive, their attitude towards my condition ( I had a spine operation from which I never fully recovered and later developed osteo-arthritis and a rare form of rheumatoid arthritis) was one of resignation. The problem was, I just couldn’t see myself as some kind of disabled person, and I wanted to live a full and enjoyable life. I knew I had to do something. Read the rest of this entry »
