In this Category, you are learning to look for, read and interpret, the guidance that is available to us all of the time, from Spirit; indeed, from the whole Spirit Realm as we are gently guided and drawn into Unity Consciousness.
You have already been introduced to the idea - more than once if you are a regular visitor to this site! - that everything that you believe is “out there” in the world, is actually a manifestation of your psyche: your own inner world, or inner landscape. Yet, you need to see and experience this truth for yourself: that your outer and inner worlds are inextricably linked. The overall aim of this Category, therefore, is to assist you to see in a new way, so that you become more spiritually awakened and aware.
Unfortunately, until we attain Unity Consciousness (Enlightenment) we suffer under the illusion that we are a separate being, separate and apart from everyone and everything else in existence. It all seems a bit of a tangle, but I assure you, you can and will awaken from the dream of separation if you want to. Think of it this way: at present you are probably, mostly, seeing everything through a pair of dark glasses that have obscured your vision, but, you are starting to remove them.
The latest wave of New Energy has reminded me that over the last year there has been a second wave of Starseeds waking up, as well as a fresh wave of emerging Light-workers. Since it can take a while for a Starseed to fully awaken and realize who and what they are, I’ve been guided to devote more space on my blog to writing about my spiritual journey and experiences, which may be of service in some way. Sometimes, I have found that people can have important spiritual experiences or events happen to them and yet not be completely aware of their full significance, or even that something significant has occurred!
I was reminded of this the other day when I was having lunch with L- a friend of mine who was a longtime member of my spiritual workshops, which I closed down in February 2007. I was aware that L- was undergoing an important spiritual awakening in which the ruler-ship and control of the ego over her lower three “bodies” ( the physical body, emotional aura or “body, “and the lower mental aura, or “body”) was coming to an end, and her Spirit-Self (Higher-Self), which resides on the fifth, causal plane, would assume control. This means that Spirit can guide us, help us and intervene in our life much more easily. It also means we become a more perfect instrument for Spirit to work through, so obviously, it’s a very important stage in our spiritual journey.
Throwing off the Control of the Ego.
At some stage in our journey to enlightenment, before we can receive enlightenment* we usually need to undergo a major initiation in which our lower-self personality, passes from being under the control of our ego (the mind-made identity we believe ourselves to be ) and willingly comes under the guidance and leadership of Spirit. This initiation is composed of a series of difficult and painful events which are best described by using the metaphor of Crucifixion, Death and Resurrection. It is, quite simply, a test of our spiritual Mastery, and it only presents itself when we are ready.
When we have emerged from this cycle of events our lower-self personality has been purified of the lower instincts, impulses, desires and emotions, which until this point in our life, have ruled and driven our actions and behaviour. Once we are free of the misleading influence of our mind-created ego, we are transformed, re-born, as it were, into a freer, more conscious, joyful, creative and powerful version of our former self. We understand our part in the Divine Plan and are in full possession of the skills, abilities and strengths we need to carry it out successfully.
So, the series of events that make up our personal Crucifixion, Death and Resurrection, are challenges, trials and tests which provide our personality with perfect opportunities to become free of our baser, lower aspects and weaknesses. At the same time, these events also enable us to conquer and master our insistence on asserting our individual will. Instead of following our own personal will, we learn the wisdom of choosing to submit consciously to the Higher, Divine Will and so allowing ourselves to come under the leadership and guidance of Spirit, rather than the dominance and control of the ego.
The Rule of the Ego.
When we attempt to control anyone or anything it’s because we ourselves are under the control of our ego, which is very dominating and controlling. Our ego is that part of our conscious mind ( that voice that’s always chattering in our head ) that’s always comparing, judging, and commenting on everything, as well as always telling us what we should and need to be doing if we want to survive, be safe, successful, admired, happy, loved, secure etc. etc. etc.
Basically, our ego controls and dominates our lower self, which is comprised of our physical body, our emotional body, or aura, and our lower, mental body, or aura. Spirit, that aspect of our being that is still connected to the Divine, or All-That-Is, resides on the causal, or fifth astral plane. Spirit has control over our higher, mental aura, which exists on the fourth astral plane. Our lower, mental “body,” or aura, exists on the third astral plane, while our emotional”body” exists on the second plane. Naturally, of course, our physical body exists on the physical, material, plane.
At a certain stage in our journey to enlightenment, or on our journey to live as our true, authentic self, we need to free ourselves from the rulership of our tyrannical ego. When we achieve this, all parts and aspects of ourselves, both physical and non-physical, are then able to come under the leadership of spirit and we begin to manifest and live as our soul, our higher self.
In my last post: “The De-glamoured View,” I said that at a certain point in our journey to enlightenment most of us need to undergo a gigantic ”humbling” - although, to be honest, we usually experience lesser humblings prior to this, as if to soften us up for the big, painful one! In today’s post, I thought I would elaborate on this very important aspect of our spiritual/soul journey, which can be, if we allow it to be, a major turning point in how we live our life.
The Purpose of Our “Humblings.”
All humbling experiences are intended to strip us of our arrogance, and one of our greatest arrogances is our tendency to believe we have the ability to manage our life successfully, and often the lives of other people, as well. To believe we have this power to control most of what happens in our own and other people’s lives, is both an illusion and an arrogance, and our “humblings,” are attempts by our soul to cure us of this hubristic attitude.
Quite simply, our soul attracts a humbling experience to us so that the size of our ego can be reduced. In plain language: so that we can be firmly put in our place and shown that we are most certainly not the captain of our own ship - our own life. Neither are we capable of being the captain of other people’s ships, or lives. This is a very important lesson we all have to learn in life and we discount it to our cost. Incidentally, I’m using the term “ego” in this sense, to mean our sense of individual self, IE. the little “me” or “I,” that we perceive ourselves to be.
I came across this quote by Carl G. Jung, from “Alchemical Studies,” the other day, and it’s so very, very true, so I thought I would share it with you. First, however, a little story about moi, and moi’s own folly and delusion (or innocence, if you want to be kind.)
Years ago, when I first embarked on a path of spiritual development, I believed I could use the knowledge I was gaining to avoid all of life’s ”bad stuff.” I’d discovered “The Seth Material,” by Jane Roberts, you see, and believed I’d discovered the secret to how the universe worked.
All I needed to do, I thought, was study how I was creating my reality and I would never have to worry again about mundane things like struggling to find the money to pay the bills, I would be prosperous, universally loved, completely fulfilled, ecstatically happy - not to mention an enlightened being! I would, or so I imagined, float inches above the ground in my own ascended space and instruct lesser mortals on how to do the same . . .
