In this Category, you are learning to look for, read and interpret, the guidance that is available to us all of the time, from Spirit; indeed, from the whole Spirit Realm as we are gently guided and drawn into Unity Consciousness.
You have already been introduced to the idea - more than once if you are a regular visitor to this site! - that everything that you believe is “out there” in the world, is actually a manifestation of your psyche: your own inner world, or inner landscape. Yet, you need to see and experience this truth for yourself: that your outer and inner worlds are inextricably linked. The overall aim of this Category, therefore, is to assist you to see in a new way, so that you become more spiritually awakened and aware.
Unfortunately, until we attain Unity Consciousness (Enlightenment) we suffer under the illusion that we are a separate being, separate and apart from everyone and everything else in existence. It all seems a bit of a tangle, but I assure you, you can and will awaken from the dream of separation if you want to. Think of it this way: at present you are probably, mostly, seeing everything through a pair of dark glasses that have obscured your vision, but, you are starting to remove them.
One of the secrets of alchemy is that what is “out there” in the physical world can’t be separated from what’s inside our head. To put it another way, the physical, material world, is a manifestation of our psyche: they are different manifestations of one and the same thing. So, if we want to be reunited with Creation, if we want to achieve what many call Unity Consciousness, then the physical world and our psyche must somehow unify and this unification can only occur within our own psyche.
Evidence of Oneness.
The process of unifying our inner and outer “worlds” begins when we start to perceive that there is actually a link between them. The evidence of this starts to come to us in the form of coincidences, synchronicities, signs, and various other messages or indications that we perceive and experience, that demonstrate to us that the Universe is responding to, and/or communicating with us, personally. This evidence increases and becomes ever more personal, the more we look for it.
The Rule of the Ego.
When we attempt to control anyone or anything it’s because we ourselves are under the control of our ego, which is very dominating and controlling. Our ego is that part of our conscious mind ( that voice that’s always chattering in our head ) that’s always comparing, judging, and commenting on everything, as well as always telling us what we should and need to be doing if we want to survive, be safe, successful, admired, happy, loved, secure etc. etc. etc.
Basically, our ego controls and dominates our lower self, which is comprised of our physical body, our emotional body, or aura, and our lower, mental body, or aura. Spirit, that aspect of our being that is still connected to the Divine, or All-That-Is, resides on the causal, or fifth astral plane. Spirit has control over our higher, mental aura, which exists on the fourth astral plane. Our lower, mental “body,” or aura, exists on the third astral plane, while our emotional”body” exists on the second plane. Naturally, of course, our physical body exists on the physical, material, plane.
At a certain stage in our journey to enlightenment, or on our journey to live as our true, authentic self, we need to free ourselves from the rulership of our tyrannical ego. When we achieve this, all parts and aspects of ourselves, both physical and non-physical, are then able to come under the leadership of spirit and we begin to manifest and live as our soul, our higher self.
In my last post: “The De-glamoured View,” I said that at a certain point in our journey to enlightenment most of us need to undergo a gigantic ”humbling” - although, to be honest, we usually experience lesser humblings prior to this, as if to soften us up for the big, painful one! In today’s post, I thought I would elaborate on this very important aspect of our spiritual/soul journey, which can be, if we allow it to be, a major turning point in how we live our life.
The Purpose of Our “Humblings.”
All humbling experiences are intended to strip us of our arrogance, and one of our greatest arrogances is our tendency to believe we have the ability to manage our life successfully, and often the lives of other people, as well. To believe we have this power to control most of what happens in our own and other people’s lives, is both an illusion and an arrogance, and our “humblings,” are attempts by our soul to cure us of this hubristic attitude.
Quite simply, our soul attracts a humbling experience to us so that the size of our ego can be reduced. In plain language: so that we can be firmly put in our place and shown that we are most certainly not the captain of our own ship - our own life. Neither are we capable of being the captain of other people’s ships, or lives. This is a very important lesson we all have to learn in life and we discount it to our cost. Incidentally, I’m using the term “ego” in this sense, to mean our sense of individual self, IE. the little “me” or “I,” that we perceive ourselves to be.
If you’re one of those people on the spiritual path currently feeling depressed and/or disillusioned, take heart, because you’re probably suffering from the ”de-glamoured view, “ a term associated with alchemy which describes a phase that spiritual seekers must go through if they are to assimilate with the Unus Mundus, the One World - see my articles, “Finding Heaven . . . Once Upon a Time” and “The Unus Mundus (One World) and the Holy Grail, ” for information concerning this experience.
We are all susceptible to glamour, meaning, we are blinded to how things really are, or who some people really are, it’s as if our vision has been placed under a spell. Then, unexpectedly, it’s as if this spell suddenly breaks and we start to see people and things as they truly are, not how we have imagined, assumed or expected them to be.
The de-glamoured view is usually depressing and discouraging for us, especially if it also involves a new and unflattering perception of our self, because all at once, we’re not the person we always thought we were. In fact, in my experience, we discover we’re almost exactly the opposite of what we thought we were.
