I took this excerpt from an article that is concerned with how to establish healthy boundaries, in order that we may take better care of ourselves. I feel that learning how to care for and nurture ourselves is something that most women really need to learn how to do. Too often we look to other people to do this for us, not realizing that we ourselves need to take responsibility for our own well-being and happiness. Many of us never learned how to develop healthy, satisfying relationships, mainly because, through no fault of our own, we carried on acting out the dysfunctional patterns of relating we had learned as children. As we awaken spiritually, however, we begin to look at all our relationships in a more conscious way; and, as we continue to awaken and evolve, we learn to relate to other people in ways that reflect increasingly higher levels of mutual respect and consideration.

Before we can open ourselves to experiencing wonderful relationships of this kind, however, we need to first get very clear in our minds (and very conscious!) about what exactly constitutes a healthy, successful - and mature - relationship. (more…)
