This article is to introduce a new category : “The World: Our Mirror,” which will contain articles about how the world and everyone in it reflects (mirrors) yourself back to you so that you can experience the effects of what you, yourself, create. It’s a category intended to empower you by :
a) Assisting you to break free from the illusion of separation, a basic belief of third dimensional consciousness: that we are all separate individuals, existing as seperate entities and therefore apart, isolated and distinct from everyone and everything else in the universe.
And,
b) Learning that you have vast creative power and that you can design and create more enjoyable and nurturing relationships with other people, as well as create a life which allows you to experience more joy, ease and abundance, as opposed to experiencing a life of pain, lack and fear.
What Is The Illusion of Separation?
The illusion of seperation can be understood as a kind of enchantment under which we all labour, struggle, and suffer, until we finally break the spell that has been cast over our perception and vision. In our journey of Spiritual Awakening, or towards Unity Consciousness, or Enlightenment, we need to learn to see through this illusion of separateness so that we can be the joyful, Divine Creator we truly are.
The Benefits of Seeing Through the Illusion of Separation.
Our experiences in life mirror our beliefs, attitudes and thoughts. Understanding this fact helps us to know and understand ourselves better. More importantly, the knowledge that the physical world is in fact a manifestation of our psyche (our own inner world) allows us to free ourselves from our dependency on ”other” people, and so-called “external” forces and powers, which we mistakenly believe are the source, providers and origin of all that we want, need and fear. The idea, that anything or anyone is outside of us, or apart from us, is simply not true. It is an illusion, but it is a powerful illusion which physical matter is reflecting back to us at every moment, and will continue to do so for as long as the world in general continues to believe the lie.
Until we recognize that a link does exist between our inner and outer worlds, however, and that we are all united, all At-One, at a deeper level than our physical eyes are able to register, then we will remain trapped within the illusion of separation. Unaware that, contrary to what our physical sight tells us and the world believes, we ourselves are the source of all that we want and need. That the real secret to having what we want is merely to accept that we already have it, and then to allow it to manifest in our life. Until we acquire this understanding, which is the gift of spiritual, not physical, vision, we remain isolated, weak, dependent, afraid and “little,” seemingly trapped in a world over which it appears we have little or no influence or control.
Putting the Idea of Separateness to the Test.
To test the truth of whether we really can make things happen and/or have influence over the world and other people, try this little experiment for yourself.
For at least five minutes every day for a week, imagine that you are the recipient of a stranger’s kindness and generosity. Just imagine yourself graciously receiving whatever the kindness is, being delighted, expressing your gratitude and pleasure.
That’s all there is to deliberately exercising your creative power: just take time to imagine; just dream a dream, as it were.
This event should materialise before the week is up, as long as you are not specific about what the kind act is, or who is being kind, and, of course, you don’t lock yourself away for the duration of the experiment!
The purpose of such an exercise is to demonstrate to yourself that there is a link between the outside world and what goes on inside your head, and to understand that you are influencing other people’s actions and behaviour all of the time, whether you realize it or not, just by the kind of thoughts and attitudes you have, and the kind of pictures you paint in your imagination.
Our Outer World Perfectly Reflects Our Inner World.
What we experience in our life is a manifestation of the contents of our conscious, and unconscious, mind. We are literally interacting and engaging with a 3D projection, or film, of our inner world of beliefs, emotions, impulses, thoughts and imagination. If we want to master what we experience in our outer life, therefore, we need to master our inner world. Mostly, we don’t pay our inner life much attention because we think that what goes on inside us is not only hidden from view from the world, but also ineffectual, and largely unrelated to our, somehow more “real,” outer life!
Actually, to an evolved person, much of what is going on inside another person is on display. It is revealed in the circumstances, events and relationships that make up that person’s life. The “outer” is just a 3d manifestation of the “inner!” Often, what isn’t present in a person’s life is just as informative as what is present. Think about it. Everything can be used as a clue which can help you in creating a better life for yourself, and if something isn’t present in your life that you want to be present, you need to change the thoughts you are having around that subject.
So, what you are experiencing in your life right now, is actually a mirror of your particular beliefs, thoughts, ideas and attitudes. You can use what happens to you, or doesn’t happen to you, or how people relate to you, as a means to inform you about the contents of your own psyche! It’s important to do this because most of what happens to you is the manifestation of your unconscious desires, drives, attitudes and impulses! So you really do need to work from the outside in, if you take my meaning.
For example, if you have regular close encounters with unpleasant, unkind people, this mirrors certain beliefs back to you. Obviously, these beliefs revolve around the idea that unpleasant, unkind people are drawn to you in some way! Once you have established what the underlying attitude or belief is that’s causing this pattern of experience to keep repeating in your life, you can change them so that something else is produced, or created.
This is easier said than done, of course. It takes a while to change beliefs we’ve held for a lifetime. What I recommend is that you use the simple technique of affirming every day that something you want to be true, is already true.
Affirmations.
For example: I only ever meet friendly, kind and supportive people.
You can use your own choice of attributes, naturally, the important thing is that the statement is in the present tense.
The more you repeat an affirmation the more proof you will receive from the world that what you are telling yourself is actually true. It usually takes about four or five days before you see the first signs that your affirmation is working, but it really all depends on how often you have, or repeat, a particular thought or idea.
You Hold the Power. You Are the Source of All That You Want and Need.
So, you can use this knowledge to change your experiences and relationships for the better. Once you realize that you have the power to change things, you can start to take responsibility for your life and what you experience. You can begin the process of taking up your immense power and learning how to use it for your own good, and the good of other people and the world.
