The return to popular consciousness of the Sacred Feminine is symptomatic of a new wave of energy sweeping over the planet. Some people refer to this energy as the Magdalene Energies, others just talk about the return of the Goddess. Whatever you call it, this great awakening of feminine energy will change and affect everything and everyone on the planet. Even now, for many of us, the awakening Goddess is already making her presence felt in very real and often turbulent ways in our lives.
Goddess energy will clear everything away that is not in alignment with it in order to redress the existing imbalance on the planet between Masculine and Feminine energy. What this means is that as this new feminine energy grows and swells, it will affect more and more people who will begin to feel the need for a new set of goals, a new set of values and a new way of behaving. There will also be a desire to see and think in completely new ways - in the ways of the Goddess!
For many, it’s going to be out with the old and in with the new, but anything or anyone who won’t, or can’t, adapt, change, and align with the new Goddess energy, will find that their lives just don’t work as well as they used to. Obviously, those who are aware of what’s happening and understand what the Goddess requires from us, can take advantage of this gigantic opportunity to transform themselves into newer, more powerful selves, living more nurturing, creative and meaningful lives.
The “old” dominant masculine energy which has manifested itself in patriarchal values, “male” patterns of behaviour, and “male” ways of thinking, is being challenged and overturned by the rising, female energy. Our Divine Mother, the Goddess, is starting to run the show now and like any wise, loving and nurturing mother, She will object to, and reject, those male impulses to control, dominate, rule, subjugate and conquer, as well as the impulse to be “right” rather than “wrong,” to think with the head (rationalize) rather than feel with the heart, and to judge everything in terms of good and bad, right and wrong. So, if you find yourself reacting strongly against this kind of behaviour, know that it’s because you are already responding to the power of the Sacred Feminine.
As you would expect, the rise of the Goddess has major implications for women especially, as women’s methods and ways of doing things: their visions, intuition and way of seeing, which have for a long time been derided and rejected by our patriarchal culture, will start to achieve greater respect and acceptance.
Yet, this great awakening of the Sacred Feminine does present its challenges to women as well as men, for women too have been conditioned to adopt masculine values, ways of behaving and ways of viewing the world. Many of us, whatever gender, battle for supremacy, and we all like to think we base our decisions on rational judgement, believing it is somehow better than following our feelings and listening to our heart.
Even so, it will be precisely our ability to follow our heart that will determine how happy and successful we will be in the future. If we do have the courage to follow our heart’s desire, the Goddess will support us, and we will find that doors open and opportunities appear before us almost magically. If we act from our heads, however, and do what we think we ought, or should do, then we will no longer find the rewards that such behaviour produced in the past. The Goddess has a completely different vision and set of goals for humanity than Her masculine counterpart.
The Divine Mother wants us to be “whole,” to be loved and loving, to live lives that are filled to the brim with meaning and significance, not filled to the brim with “stuff,” and if we do insist on hanging on to the goals of patriarchy: to gain more for ourselves, without regard for the “whole,” then we will suffer for it in some way.
The Goddess is urging us to move beyond the realm of personal concerns into a more heart-centred consciousness: a concern for the whole world, for all of Creation. The Goddess wants to heal our suffering and ease our pain, and She calls on us to do the same for the world. If we do cling to “old” ways of thinking and being, however, we will be alerted to this fact in no uncertain terms. Stated plainly, things will start to go wrong for us as arrangements that have worked well in the past suddenly fall apart, as will some relationships, jobs and ways of acting.
Most of all, the Goddess wants to sweep away all of our conditioned behaviour and beliefs, so that we are left with only our original, authentic self: the self we were meant to be before social conditioning forced us to become someone different. Quite simply, the Goddess wants to free our soul, for in doing so, the Goddess Herself also becomes free.
